ROC programme

A further strength of the school’s aspirational culture is the ROC Group, a targeted initiative designed to support students aiming for Russell Group universities. Sixth form members of the ROC Group receive tailored guidance on competitive applications, including support with personal statements, interview practice, wider reading, and subject‑specific enrichment. This structured approach ensures that students are well‑prepared for the academic rigour and expectations of high‑tariff university pathways. Leaders monitor progress closely, and students value the personalised challenge and high expectations associated with the programme.
Importantly, this work begins well before the sixth form. As part of the school’s wider Aspire to Russell Group strategy, the ROC initiative is introduced in Key Stage 4, enabling younger students to build early academic ambition and develop the habits required for future success. KS4 students take part in targeted sessions that introduce them to university pathways, encourage subject curiosity, and strengthen foundational academic skills. By the time they reach the sixth form, students are already accustomed to setting challenging goals and engaging proactively with opportunities that extend their learning. This continuity ensures a robust pipeline of high aspiration across the school.

Medical Programme

If you are hoping to study Medicine or Dentistry, then at Eden Park we offer dedicated guidance to inform next steps following sixth form. Students are encouraged to apply to a range of universities.

Medical and Dentistry applicants receive:

  • Advice on sixth form subject choices and courses
  • Information regarding a timeline of application
  • Support for work experience placements
  • Discussions within our medical society based around personal statements, university choices and BMAT/UCAT support
  • Interview practice with members of staff

Work experience and volunteering

At Eden Park we encourage students to get a wide range of work experience in GP practices and other NHS organisations. We can help students to build connections with local GP and hospitals in the borough in which they live. Useful volunteering opportunities for medical applications are care homes and opportunities to work with children.

BMAT

The BMAT is used by universities around the world to help select applicants for medical and dental degree programmes.

UCAT

This is an admissions test also used to admit students into medical and dental degree programmes.

UCAT

The student’s university choices will dictate the test they are required to complete.
